Synergist Communications has made a commitment to measure our carbon emissions and plan emission reductions.  We are currently a member of the Climate Smart Program which enables business of all sizes to quantify and reduce their carbon footprint. The program educates and encourages long-term commitment to continuous improvement. Climate Smart teaches businesses how to identify practical changes to business practices that result in real cost and carbon savings.

How are we reducing carbon emissions? The following are just a sample of the greenhouse gas reduction strategies we have put into place.

  • Encouraging lower GHG impact travel such as rail or buses over air travel
  • Substituting teleconferencing or videoconferencing for travel wherever possible
  • Using route planning software
  • Allowing employees and subcontractors to work from home
  • Reducing the temperature in work spaces at night and by a couple of degrees during the day
  • Shutting off all lights at night
  • Powering off all office equipment at the end of each business day
  • Using laptops vs. desktop computers (50% energy reduction)
  • Using electronic invoicing
  • Limiting fax machine usage and encouraging scanning and emailing as an alternative
